Recent Product Recalls, February 2017

A number of consumer and other products have been recalled recently for a number of reasons.  Some of these products are discussed below.

Britax Strollers

On February 16, 2017, the Britax B-Agile and BOB Motion Strollers with Click & Go receivers were recalled. The hazard is a damaged receiver mount on the stroller which can result in the car seat disengaging and falling.  This poses a fall hazard to the infant in the car seat.

Consumers are entitled to a repair of the product.

Target Patio Benches

On February 13, 2017, the Target threshold patio benches were recalled.  The hazard is the benches may collapse while being used.  This presents a fall hazard to bench users.

Customers are entitled to a refund.

Restoration Hardware Metal Top Dining Tables

On February 10, 2017, Restoration Hardware metal top dining tables were recalled.  The hazard is the metal top of the table may contain lead.  This can present a risk of lead exposure in children.  Lead is known to have adverse health impacts and if ingested can be toxic.

Consumers are entitled to either a refund or replacement.

Feld Entertainment Toy Wands Sold at Disney on Ice and Disney Live Shows

On February 9, 2017, Feld Entertainment light-spinner toy wands sold exclusively at Disney on Ice and Disney Live Shows were recalled.  The top piece can come off and expose an eight-inch metal post.  This can be hazardous for young children.

Consumers are entitled to a refund.

La-Z-Boy Power Sources Sold with Lift Chairs

On February 8, 2017, La-Z-Boy power sources sold with lift chairs were recalled.  The hazard is the power supply cover, which can break inside the screw housing.  This can cause the cover to detach, exposing the power sources’ electrical components.  This can cause a shock hazard to users of the chair.

Consumers are entitled to replacement.

Sony Recalls VAIO Laptop Computer Battery Packs

On February 7, 2017, Panasonic battery packs used in Sony laptop computers were recalled.  The lithium-ion batteries can overheat.  This can cause fire and burn hazards.

Consumers are entitled to a replacement.

Restoration Hardware Mirrors

On February 2, 2017, glass mirrors from Restoration Hardware were recalled.  The hazard is the mirrors are not properly glued to their backing.  This can cause the mirror to fall and break, presenting a potential laceration hazard.

Customers are entitled to a refund.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Mickey Mouse Nightlight

On February 2, 2017, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts “Happy Holidays!  Mickey Mouse Nightlights” were recalled.  The hazard presented is there is a liquid that may leak into the electrical outlet.  This poses a potential fire hazard.

Consumers are entitled to a refund.

Barnes & Noble Power Adapter for the NOOK Tablet 7

On February 1, 2017, the Barnes & Noble NOOK Tablet 7” was recalled.  The power adapter packaging can break when it is plugged into an electrical outlet.  This may expose its metal prongs and may present an electric shock hazard.

Consumers are entitled to replacement.
