Kevin Schumaker was born in Racine, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Philosophy and Anthropology. Kevin continued his liberal arts education, eventually receiving a Masters Degree in Philosophy at the University of Kansas where he taught introductory philosophy courses. Kevin subsequently graduated from Washburn University Law School in Topeka, Kansas, with Dean’s Honors.
Kevin has practiced law in both the public and private sectors, including managing his own law firm, and later serving as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Kansas’ Consumer Protection Division where he prosecuted cases against debt collectors and marketers who preyed on our most vulnerable citizens.
Kevin has focused on developing his skills as a trial attorney by working to defend indigent clients in Fulton, Clayton, Haralson, and Polk counties. As an Assistant Public Defender Kevin served as Senior Courtroom Attorney. His trial experience ranged from relatively simple traffic matters to murder.
Kevin describes his career in the law as being focused on giving a voice to those among us who find themselves facing seemingly overwhelming forces, whether they be powerful companies, con artists, or the State. His philosophy and approach is client-centered, understanding that working on behalf of a client means listening to their concerns and taking the time to make sure all their questions are answered.
Kevin began working for The Bader Law Firm in 2019. He and his team are committed to using his client-centered approach to help his clients get the medical treatment they deserve, and to guide them through the litigation process.
Kevin resides in Douglas County with his wife and daughter.
