A grand jury has indicted a Roswell, Georgia, chiropractor on 12 counts of insurance fraud after an investigation by the state Insurance Department’s Fraud Division, the department said Tuesday.
The department said a judge issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Victor L. Dees, 49, on June 16. Fraud investigators allowed Dees to turn himself in because he had pending appointments with patients.
Prosecutors say Dees submitted fraudulent bills amounting to $19,100 to insurance carriers for treatment that did not occur. The Insurance Department’s press release did not say if they were health or workers’ compensation insurers.
Dees faces a penalty of two to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted, the Insurance Department said.
