Employer Seminar On Labor Laws In Valdosta

The South Georgia Employer Committee and the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor a seminar on federal and state labor laws Thursday, May 22, in Valdosta. The seminar will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Valdosta Career Center, 221 South Ashley St. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

The seminar will be led by William T. Krizner, of Tallahassee, Fla., owner of a law firm, The Krizner Group. The seminar will focus on managing difficult issues of employee leave under federal laws, especially the Family Medical and Leave Act (FMLA). Other topics to be discussed will be the laws pertaining to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and the state’s Workers Compensation Board.

The seminar is designed for entrepreneurs, business owners, managers, supervisors, human resource personnel, and other professionals interested in labor laws.

The fee for the seminar is $15 for those who register by Friday, May 16, and $20 for those who register after that date. Checks should be made out to the South Georgia Employer Committee and mailed to P. O. Box 3446, Valdosta, Georgia 31604.

The South Georgia Employer Committee is comprised of employers in Brooks, Cook, Echols, Lanier, and Lowndes counties.
